Botswana to host the 6th African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors

GABORONE, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Botswana has won the bid to host the 6th African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (AFIIA) conference, making it the first Southern African country to host this event.

The continental event will attract more than 600 participants from all African countries, said Margretmary Mushango, president of the Institute of Internal Auditors Botswana (IIAB) on Tuesday in the capital of Gaborone.

Mushango said the IIAB looks forward to hosting the event that will consider auditing systems and standards which will address some pertinent and recurring challenges of Africa such as the lack of good governance, cyber risks and corruption.

Themed "The Future of Internal Audit is now. Assure. Advise. Anticipate," the event seeks to share skills that will help organizations across Africa to accomplish their objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance process.

The 6th AFIIA conference is scheduled for May 27-31. Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi will attend the conference.
