CHANGCHUN, March 27 (Xinhua) -- A book about the history of China's first domestic truck brand Jiefang was released Wednesday in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province.

The book, named Jiefang, is an oral history of 14 witnesses who recalled the unknown hardships and struggles to develop the brand in interviews with Ge Bangning, an automobile reporter, over the past 10-plus years.

The book, with 260,000 Chinese characters, was published by China Worker Publishing House.

The launch event was held Wednesday in automaker FAW Group, which was founded in 1953 and is known as the cradle of China's auto industry.

China ended its history of no domestically-made vehicles when the first Jiefang truck rolled off the line in 1956. So far, the brand has sold more than 7 million vehicles.
