DUBAI, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Director-General of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) Christer Viktorsson said on Wednesday that the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant is the key national project of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
"FNAR continues to carry out its mission as stipulated by the UAE nuclear law that mandates us to regulate the nation's nuclear sector for peaceful purposes," Viktorsson said in a media briefing at the FANR's headquarters.
In 2019, FANR will continue the development or revision of a number of regulations and guides in accordance with the FANR's five-year regulatory framework, he added.
The FANR official said the UAE was working with the government entities on a strategy to provide education and training in radiation protection for those involved in the project.
