China books women's doubles trophy in Qatar Open

DOHA, March 30 (Xinhua) -- China emerged successful at the semifinal stage of the women's doubles event in 2019 world tour Qatar Open on Friday.

Ding Ning and Wang Yidi upset the pecking order by beating Japan's Hina Hayata and Mima Ito, the top seeds (11-9, 11-5, 11-5).

Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu, the no.2 seeds, overcame another Japan pair Honoka Hashimoto and Hitomi Sato, the no.3 seeds (11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 9-11, 11-6).

The final is set for Saturday evening.
