AMMAN, March 31 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan said on Sunday that the Palestinian issue has been and will always remain the foremost concern for all Arabs.

In his speech at the ongoing 30th Arab League summit in Tunisia, the Jordanian king reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause must remain Arabs' core and primary cause, according to a royal court statement obtained by Xinhua.

There can be no security, no stability, or prosperity in the region without a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue to fulfill the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, the king said.

He also reiterated the importance of maintaining support to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees to enable it to continue providing vital services to millions of Palestinian refugees in the region.

On Iraq, the Jordanian king stressed the importance of achieving the political process in the country.

On Syria, he said there is no alternative to a political solution that safeguards the territorial integrity of Syria and the unity of its people, and guarantees the safe and voluntary return of refugees to their homeland.

According to official Jordanian figures, there are 1.3 million Syrian refugees in Jordan.

On the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, he highlighted the Golan as "an occupied Syrian territory according to the international law and UN resolutions."
