Namibian women team confident ahead of Olympics qualifier against Botswana

WINDHOEK, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Namibian women football team, the Brave Gladiators will face Botswana in their 2020 Tokyo Olympics Games qualifier on Friday in Botswana.

The 20-player squad met with Namibia's sports minister Erastus Uutoni at Football House on Monday morning.

Namibia is to play Botswana over two legs with the first leg away in Gaborone on April 5 while the return leg is in Windhoek four days later.

Namibia's coach Brain Isaacs Monday revealed the new Brave Gladiators captain, Spanish-based Zenatha Coleman who plays for Valencia with Emma Naris as vice-captain while Anouchka Kordom who plays in the United States is not considered due to injury.

"Go and play for your country. People should know about us. You should market your country and in the game, you should play as a team and do not keep the ball too long. Play to score and win and prepare hard and do us proud," Uutoni said.

The Gladiators leave for Gaborone on Tuesday with the game set for Friday. The winner over the two legs will face South Africa in the second round. Enditem
