MADRID, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane confirmed on Tuesday that he is preparing to make changes for his side's match away to Valencia on Wednesday night and that he expects a busy summer in the transfer market.
Zidane made several changes to his side on Sunday when Real Madrid scraped past bottom of the table Huesca 3-2, and speaking to the press in his pre-game conference before Madrid travel to Valencia, he said he would repeat the tactic in the Mestalla Stadium.
"After the Huesca game I said that there would be changes to the team against Valencia and that's what we are planning to do," he said.
One of the players who benefitted from the changes on Sunday was his son Luca Zidane, who played in goal ahead of Kaylor Navas, but Zidane insisted there was no favoritism in his decision.
"The people who know me know that Luca is at this club on his own merits. He's a member of the first team squad, and he's been at this club since he was 16 or 17 years old," said the coach, who added that next season "there will be no debate about the goalkeeping position next season - it will be very clear."
He explained he didn't want to see central defender Rafael Varane leave despite rumors pointing to a departure from the club, but Zidane did look ahead to the summer, although he didn't give much away.
"Talking about a summer clear-out at this point in the season seems disrespectful to me, but I will say this: we will need to make changes," he confirmed, without giving any names.
One of the players expected to leave is Gareth Bale, who was again booed by a sector of supporters on Sunday.
"The fans whistled me too when I was a player. You have to accept it and have the personality to take on board what other people think about you. We have to finish the season before we can start talking about our players and their future," commented Zidane. Enditem
