YANGON, April 2 (Xinhua) -- A curfew was imposed in Minpya town, Myanmar's western Rakhine state, on Tuesday, the town's General Administration Office said.

The curfew, which takes effect from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m local time, will last about two months, it said in a statement.

The dusk-to-dawn curfew bans people from going to public roads and designated areas of Minpya town at night time.

The imposition of the curfew came as terrorists in Rakhine state, disguised as civilians, launched attacks on government's security forces recently, the statement said.

The attacks have resulted in casualties and destruction of civilian houses, it added.
