JOHANNESBURG, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Sisa Ntshona, CEO of the tourism marketing arm of the South African government, was on Tuesday placed on "precautionary suspension" pending investigations into an anonymous tip-off, the board of South African Tourism said.

"The board is obligated to thoroughly investigate these allegations, in the best interest of all parties concerned," the board said in a statement. "In order to conduct a free and fair investigation the board has decided to place the CEO on precautionary suspension."

It did not reveal the nature of tip-off.

"No further comment will be made until this matter has been finalized," the statement said.

Ntshona was appointed CEO of the South African Tourism in October 2016.

Sthembiso Dlamini was appointed as acting CEO of South African Tourism to ensure the continued smooth operation of the organization and preparations for the upcoming Africa Travel Indaba, which is scheduled for May in Durban.
