PARIS, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Strasbourg finished a 4-0 rout of sixth-placed Reims at home fresh from French League Cup glory, while Guingamp continued poor run as they faltered 2-0 at Montpellier in Ligue 1 on Wednesday.
After seeing a penalty ruled against them annulled by match referee following VAR review, Strasbourg went ahead on the stroke of halftime through striker Nuno Da Costa's powerful header on a left-wing cross from Lionel Carole.
The hosts continued their offensive dominance after the restart. Anthony Goncalves recorded a brace in the 46th and 69th minute. Da Costa also pulled off his second goal of the match through a spot kick with 14 minutes from time.
Strasbourg climb to ninth, while Reims remain sixth at the table.
Guingamp, beaten finalists in the French League Cup, found themselves one goal down from Andy Delort in the 22nd minute.
Mihailo Ristic sealed the win for Montpellier by poking home against defenders with 11 minutes from time.
Guingamp sit second from bottom, one point below Caen at the league playoff spot.
Paris Saint-Germain lead by 20 points over Lille atop the standings.
