THE HAGUE, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Recovering from last Sunday's 3-1 loss at Ajax, PSV hammered PEC Zwolle 4-0 on Thursday to retake the lead in the Dutch league table.
In a lackluster first half in Eindhoven, Luuk de Jong opened the scoring by heading in a corner from Gaston Pereiro. In the second half, Steven Bergwijn finished a solo run to decide the match. Another header by De Jong and a header by substitute Donyell Malen made it 4-0.
PSV needed the win, because Ajax had temporarily taken over the Eredivisie lead for one day, for the first time since May 7, 2016. Ajax beat FC Emmen 5-2 on Wednesday.
Donny van de Beek, Daley Blind, David Neres, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and David Neres gave Ajax a 5-0 lead after half an hour, but the Amsterdam based team failed to score more goals. An own goal by Nicolas Tagliafico and a late goal by Jafar Arias Emmen consolated FC Emmen.
With six rounds remaining, PSV lead the Eredivisie with 70 points, two ahead of Ajax. AZ, which drew 2-2 at Vitesse on Tuesday, are third with 51 points. Enditem
