TOKYO, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday following an upbeat lead from the Dow Jones Industrial Average overnight, with investor concerns easing about the outlook for the global economy.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 38.52 points, or 0.18 percent, from Thursday to 21,763.47.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.86 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,622.91.
Mining, air transportation and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
