Vietnam busts drug trafficking ring, seizing 20,000 pills

HANOI, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Police of Vietnam's northern Vinh Phuc province said Friday they have brought to light a drug trafficking ring, detaining two local men and confiscating nearly 20,000 pills of synthetic drug, the largest amount of ever seized in the locality.

To Anh Duc, 32, from northern Dien Bien province and Ngo Hong Quan, 38, from central Nghe An province, were caught red-handed on Tuesday illegally trading the drug in Vinh Phuc's Tam Dao district.

According to the Vietnamese law, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kg of methamphetamine are punishable by death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces death penalty
