PHNOM PENH, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian authorities arrested a total of 4,434 illicit drug suspects in 2,047 cases in the first quarter of 2019, said an Interior Ministry's anti-drug department report on Friday.

Some 2,272 suspects were involved in drug trafficking and 2,162 were related to drug use, the report said, adding that 121 of them are foreigners in 10 nationalities.

It said that 100 kilos of drugs including heroin, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills and ketamine were seized from the suspects during the January-March period this year.

In the entirety of 2018, the Southeast Asian country nabbed 16,232 drug suspects in 8,018 cases, confiscating over 533 kilos of illicit drugs.

Cambodia has no death sentence for illicit drug traffickers. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drug will be jailed for life.
