Iran's Taj elected as AFC vice president

TEHRAN, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Iran's football head Mehdi Taj has been elected vice president from the Central Zone of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on Saturday.

The AFC confirmed its five vice presidents for the next term on its 29th Congress in Kuala Lumpur where Qatari Saoud A. Aziz M A Al-Mohannadi was elected as the vice president from the West Zone, Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat of Pakistan took the same post from the South Zone, Ganbaatar Amgalanbaatar of Mongolia and Zaw Zaw of Myanmar were elected from the East Zone and the ASEAN Zone, respectively.

The 29th AFC Congress concluded on Saturday with AFC Bahraini president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa re-elected unopposed for a second four-year term (2019-2023) to lead a new-look AFC Executive Committee.
