THE HAGUE, April 7 (Xinhua) -- PSV Eindhoven lost the top spot to Ajax in the Dutch top flight Eredivisie after drawing 3-3 with Vitesse in the closer of the 29th round on Sunday.

Thulani Serero put Vitesse in front 13 minutes into the game but PSV's Hirving Lozano converted a penalty to restore parity before half time. Martin Odegaard put the visitors ahead again just before the hour mark, only to see Luuk de Jong equalize 10 minutes later. Tim Matavz put Vitesse in front for the third time, but Hirving Lozano rescued one point for the hosts from the penalty spot in injury time.

With the draw, PSV came on 71 points from 29 matches, the same as Ajax, who lead on goal difference with five matches remaining.

It is the first time since May 2016, after 97 match rounds, that Ajax are on top of the Dutch table again.

Ajax regained the long-coveted top position thanks to their 4-1 win over Willem II in Tilburg on Saturday. Donny van de Beek, Freek Heerkens (own goal), Joel Veltman, Hakim Ziyech (the 100th Ajax goal of the season) scored for Ajax. Alexander Isak found the net for Willem II with a penalty.

Elsewhere, Feyenoord took over the third place in the Eredivisie from AZ with a 3-0 win at VVV-Venlo on Sunday. AZ Alkmaar drew 1-1 at De Graafschap on Saturday.
