Chinese school kids compete at ISF World School Football Championships

BELGRADE, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese boys' team draw with Germany 1-1, while the girls lost to France 2-1 at their debut at the 2019 ISF World School Football Championships which opened here on Sunday.

A total of 24 boys' teams and 16 girls' teams will compete for the world championships.

In the first phase, the 24 boy teams are divided into four groups of six teams each, with the four best teams from each group proceeding to the knockouts. The girls are divided into four groups of four, with top two teams of each group progressing into the knockout phase.

The Chinese boys' team, which is from Sichuan Chengdu Tanghu Foreign Languages School, is in Group B with Germany, Turkey, Greece, the Czech Republic and Hungary, and their girls' counterpart, which is from Hebei Baoding No.1 High School, also competes in Group B with France, Greece and Serbia.

Organized by the International School Sport Federation (ISF) together with Serbian Ministry of Sport and Youth and the city of Belgrade, the games are staged from April 7-13 in 10 venues in Belgrade and the surrounding area.
