Muay Thai flyweight champion to face British challenger in Jakarta

JAKARTA, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Muay Thai flyweight world champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao is to face British fighter Jonathan Haggerty next month, the champion revealed in a statement on Monday.

Billed as ONE: For Honor, the bout is scheduled to be held at the Istora Senayan stadium in Indonesia's capital Jakarta on May 3.

Widely regarded as one of the world's best Muay Thai fighters, Sam-A has fought in over 400 bouts at various levels, winning numerous awards.

"We are ready for the match. Preparation has gone well," Sam-A said.

His challenger Haggerty is a three-time British Muay Thai champion, and has also won a European championship, having taken up the sport at the age of seven.
