BEIRUT, April 9 (Xinhua) -- A vessel, COSCO Shipping Panama, arrived from China at the Port of Tripoli on Tuesday to unload 1,200 containers, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The ship sent by COSCO, short for China Ocean Shipping Company, a Chinese shipping and logistics services supplier company, unloaded some of the products at Tripoli's port to be distributed in the local market and exported to other countries in the East Mediterranean sea, according to NNA.

Tripoli's Port Director General Ahmed Tamer said that activity at the port is excellent and the ship arrived within the framework of the weekly program for ship arrivals for COSCO and CMA CGM on the line between Chinese ports and Port of Tripoli.

Tamer added that Tripoli port will witness an increase in activity in 2019.

Tripoli port has expanded its terminal to receive the largest types of vessels in addition to creating a terminal to receive Chinese cranes capable of lifting and transporting more than 700 containers a day.
