AUGUSTA, United States, April 9 (Xinhua) -- China's number one golfer Li Haotong said on Tuesday that he's thrilled to play alongside American star and former world number one Tiger Woods at the Masters to be held in Augusta, the United States.

Li sees Woods as his idol and vowed to go all out in the competition which kicks off on Thursday.

"I'm excited to be grouped with Woods. He's my idol and this could be a chance to learn from him. But I also expect to play my best in front of him, to show what I've got. Hopefully I can play my best golf," said Li, who has been invited to play at the prestigious tournament for a second consecutive year.

"The course is challenging and the Masters always gives you something special. I hope I can win, but I know I need to work on so many things. So I just play my game and focus on my game," added the 23-year-old.

Having come into the event with a series of top-notch performances last year, the 43-year-old Woods feels upbeat about his form and is looking for a strong finish at the Masters.

"I feel like I can win," said Woods, who won four times here. "I've proven that I can do it and I put myself there with a chance to win the last two major championships of the year last year. I was right there and just needed to have a couple more things to go my way. I've worked my way back into one of the players that can win events."

Li and Woods will be joined in the first two rounds by Spain's Jon Rahm.
