WASHINGTON, April 11 (Xinhua) -- The Sacramento Kings have parted ways with coach Dave Joerger, the organization announced in a statement on Thursday.
Joerger, 45, was named head coach of the Kings in 2016, but was not able to bring the team back to the playoffs, where they last featured in the 2005-2006 season.
"After evaluating the season, I determined that we need to move in a different direction in order to take us to the next level," Kings Gerneral Manager Vlade Divac said. "On behalf of the entire Kings organization, I want to thank Dave for his contributions to our team and I wish him all the best."
The Sacramento Kings finished ninth in the Western Conference this season.
