GUIYANG, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Enrollment has started for the 2019 Self-Driving Global Challenge to be held in May in southwest China's Guizhou Province, according to the organizing committee.

The finals of the challenge will be held during the China International Big Data Industry Expo from May 26 to 29 in Guiyang, the provincial capital.

Driverless vehicles provided by the organizers will be loaded with algorithms developed by the candidates to compete with human drivers in 16 tasks such as pedestrian avoidance, S-turn driving, car following and automatic parking.

Top players and teams will receive venture capital support and awards from enterprises, according to the official website of the Expo.

At last year's competition, more than 100 of the world's top engineers took part in the driverless challenge, including students from world-renowned institutions, as well as members of the world's top driverless vehicle teams and innovation centers.
