CAIRO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League (AL) Friday called on the Sudanese people to achieve their aspirations through political dialogue, a day after the armed forces overthrew Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.
"The AL follows up closely the ongoing rapid developments related to the political transition in Sudan," the AL said in a statement.
The Cairo-based pan-Arab organization expressed hopes that the Sudanese people will reach a consensus for the interest of their country.
"The AL calls on the people to adhere to political dialogue to achieve their aspirations for honorable, free, secure and stable life," the statement noted.
It also reiterated that the AL will continue to make an effort to solve the political issues in Sudan.
"The AL will continue its endeavors for promoting peace, stability and development in Sudan, a central country in the Arab world," the statement said.
