LOS ANGELES, April 15 (Xinhua) -- WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart injured her leg during the EuroLeague women's championship on Sunday.

The 24-yer-old injured herself during the game between her team the Seattle Storm and Dynamo Kursk, a Russian women's basketball club playing in the Russian Premier League. At the end of the first half, she took a jumper but landed on the foot of her teammate Brittney Griner. Stewart immediately grabbed at her right leg and appeared to be in pain.

The Seattle Storm star was the first overall pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft. Prior to her WNBA journey, she played forward for the University of Connecticut (UConn), leading the team to four national championships, and was a three-time consensus national player of the year.

It is still up in the air whether the injury will affect the two-time all-star and 2018 WNBA MVP for the upcoming WNBA season, which starts from May 24.

The Seattle Storm went on to beat Dynamo Kursk 91-67 after Stewart left the game.
