Chinese shares rally Tuesday

BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares, led by 5G-related shares, ended higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closing at 3,253.60 points, up 2.39 percent.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.33 percent higher at 10,287.64 points.

The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices stood at 791 billion yuan (about 118 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 775.8 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most shares gained, with gainers outnumbering losers by 1,248 to 175 at the Shanghai bourse and 1,844 to 255 in Shenzhen.

Stocks related to 5G showed strong performance with many shares rising above the daily 10-percent limit. Shares of Wutong Holding Group Co. Ltd. and Suzhou Chunxing Precision Mechanical Co. Ltd. both climbed by the 10 percent daily limit to finish at 5.01 and 9.63 yuan per share respectively.

Diverse financial service providers were also among the winners. Panda Financial Holding Corp. Ltd. rose by the daily limit of 10 percent to 17.16 yuan.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.84 percent to close at 1,697.53 points Tuesday.
