16th Arab Media Forum kicks off in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The 16th Arab Media Forum kicked off on Sunday at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center in Kuwait City, capital of Kuwait.

At the opening ceremony, Mohammad Al-Jabri, Kuwait's minister of information and minister of state for youth affairs, emphasized the importance of the media industry and the investment in it to address challenges in the Arab region.

Abdulmunim bin Mansour bin Said al-Hasani, minister of information of Oman and guest of honor of the forum, highlighted the importance of media's humanization in his speech.

"We must take care of the humanization of media at the individual and institutional level ... We believe that our Arab countries are full of achievements that we are proud of," he said.

The two-day forum will discuss several topics including humanization of media, the reality and future of the Arab's media, the skill of dealing with social media and the language of dialogue.

Since 2003, the event brought together many ministers, editors-in-chief of local and regional newspapers, media executives, journalists, and social figures from all around the Arab world.
