OSLO, April 22 (Xinhua) -- China beat Australia 5-2 on Sunday to complete a two-game winning streak and tie with the Czech Republic and Wales at the top of Group C at the 2019 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships.

The tournament, which started on Saturday and will run through to April 27 in Stavanger, Norway, features 48 teams across six groups, with China's mixed team of Fu Yiwei and Zou Dejia drawn into Group C along with Australia, Croatia, France, Italy and Nigeria in addition to Wales and the Czech Republic.

Fu and Zou, winners of this season's Latvian Mixed Doubles Curling Cup, opened their Worlds campaign on Saturday with a convincing 13-2 victory over Nigeria, building on an 8-0 run in the second half.

The Chinese pair have not been teamed up for long, but have considerable experience in international competitions and are in good form.

Along with China, the Czech Republic and Wales also remain undefeated in the round-robin group stage, creating a three-way tie for first place in Group C.

The world mixed championships were first held in 2008. Over the past 11 editions of the tournament, China has finished on the podium three times, bagging one silver and two bronze medals.
