BUDAPEST, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The man, who caught a sensation by beating Chinese table tennis great Liu Guoliang 22 years ago, is still playing.

Aleksandar Karakasevic, who ousted the 1996 Olympic champion at the 1997 Manchester worlds, will return to the table for his second match in Budapest.

Awaiting the 43-year-old Serbian in the second qualification round is Denmark's Michael Maze, 37, the 2004 Olympic bronze medalist and 2005 world championships singles semifinalist.

Karakasevic, last playing the world championships in 2015 is still an active player while his old enemy Liu is leading the Chinese legion in a bid to clean sweep gold medals in Budapest.

The newly-elected president of the Chinese Table Tennis Association said he had high respect for the two European veterans.

"Both players are very talented and experienced," said Liu. "I hope they will go as far as possible."
