TAIYUAN, April 22 (Xinhua) -- A movie jointly made by five directors from five BRICS countries was previewed in Taiyuan City, the capital of north China's Shanxi Province on Sunday.

The movie "Half the Sky" has five parts, telling stories of women from different cultural backgrounds of the five BRICS countries.

The Chinese part depicts a mother and daughter who are troubled by the clash between traditions and modern ways of thinking. The Brazilian part tells the homecoming story of a daughter. The Indian part is about the contribution of a woman to her family. The one from South Africa shows a female athlete who is questioned about her gender after performing well. The Russian part depicts the love of a woman on the Internet.

"The movie is dedicated to women, as well as human beings," said Jia Zhangke, a Chinese director.

"It is a big step forward in international cultural cooperation when we are making the movie together, which can deepen the mutual understandings of the BRICS countries and promote more cooperations in other fields," said Elizaveta Sitshova, a Russian film producer.
