BEIJING, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Chilean President Sebastian Pinera Echenique will pay a state visit to China and attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation here in the Chinese capital city of Beijing from April 24 to 28 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The following is a brief profile of the president.
Pinera, 70, studied in the United States and received a Ph.D. in Economics.
He served as senator from 1990 to 1998, and as the Chilean president from 2010 to 2014.
Pinera won the presidential election again in December 2017, and took office in March 2018.
It will be President Pinera's second state visit to China.
