Chelsea's England youngster Hudson-Odoi suffers ruptured tendon

LONDON, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Chelsea's young England international winger Callum Hudson-Odoi will miss the rest of the season and also England's UEFA Nations League campaign after rupturing his Achilles tendon.

The 18-year-old, who impressed in his two recent appearances for England against the Czech Republic and Montenegro, suffered the injury in the first half of Chelsea's 2-2 draw at home to Burnley on Monday night.

Although the youngster still has to undergo scans to confirm the full extent of his injury, he left Chelsea's Stamford Bridge ground on crutches and later 'tweeted' that he was "really gutted to end my season with a ruptured Achilles. Gotta work hard and try and come back stronger for next season."

Although Chelsea's assistant coach Gianfranco Zola was unwilling to speculate on the injury, he admitted it was "not looking good."

Hudson-Odoi has been excellent in recent games for Chelsea after only making his first Premier League start in a 3-0 win against Brighton on April 3rd.

His loss will also be a blow to England coach Gareth Southgate who also has a doubt over the fitness of striker Harry Kane, who is currently recovering from damaged ankle ligaments.
