BEIJING, April 23 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Li Zhanshu on Tuesday called for improved laws concerning scientific and technological innovation.
Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remarks while hosting a lecture in Beijing.
The lecture on fundamental research was one of a series held by the top legislature.
Li stressed accelerating resolution of China's fundamental research problems that hinder the country's scientific and technological innovation.
Revisions to laws concerning science and technology development will play an important role in solving problems and boosting fundamental research advances, said Li Jinghai, a Chinese Academy of Sciences member who spoke at the lecture.
