Stosur crashes out of Kunming Tennis Open

KUNMING, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Third seed Samantha Stosur lost her first rounder to unseeded Ankita Raina for the biggest upset of the ongoing Kunming Open tennis tournament here on Wednesday.

Stosur, who won the 2019 Aussia Open doubles with Chinese Zhang Shuai, was beaten in the last game of the first round by 180th-ranked Indian Raina 7-5, 2-6 and 7-5 after two hours and 49 minutes.

The 35-year-old Australian who is ranked 77th, has won the US Open women's singles title and the mixed doubles of French Open, the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Raina has not yet won any WTA title, and it's the first time that she has made the top 100 players in the world. Up next for her is Chinese player Zhang Yulin.
