BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua News Agency President Cai Mingzhao met with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde here on Thursday.

Welcoming Lagarde's visit to the Xinhua headquarters, Cai said the media world is undergoing a profound transformation, and Xinhua is committed to providing authentic information globally via various channels, voicing his hope to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the IMF.

Cai also briefed Lagarde on the newly-born Belt and Road Studies Network (BRSN), co-initiated by the Xinhua Institute and 15 other think tanks. The BRSN was inaugurated in Beijing on Wednesday.

Lagarde, who is in Beijing to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, noted the significance of cultural exchanges, including those between think tanks under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

She said globalization is an irresistible trend in which how to safeguard diversity is an important question to answer, and she looks forward to hearing Xinhua's solution in the future.
