BEIRUT, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed on Thursday that the last border tunnel discovered by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) crosses the Blue Line separating Lebanon and Israel in violation of Resolution 1701.

"Recently, UNIFIL carried out a technical inspection of the last tunnel discovered by the IDF in northern Israel close to the Blue Line and across from the Lebanese village of Ramyah. UNIFIL's independent assessment confirms that this tunnel crosses the Blue Line in violation of Resolution 1701," a UNIFIL statement said.

Between December 2018 and January 2019, the IDF informed UNIFIL that they had discovered six tunnels along the Blue Line.

Of the six tunnels, five have been confirmed and three have been found to cross the Blue Line in violation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

UNIFIL has informed the Lebanese authorities of the violation and requested urgent actions on the tunnels from the Lebanese government.
