SHIJIAZHUANG, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Eleven workers were killed and two seriously injured after an elevator collapsed at a construction site in north China's Hebei Province Thursday morning, local authorities said.
The collapse occurred at 7:20 a.m. in Taocheng District of Hengshui city, according to the city's public security bureau.
After the on-site rescue and accident investigation, the police quickly took control of eight people responsible for the accident, including the project manager and contractor.
The injured are being treated at a local hospital.
An investigation is underway.
