THE HAGUE, April 25 (Xinhua) -- PSV and Ajax enter a thrilling climax of the Dutch Eredivisie with both teams winning in the 32nd round.
After Ajax tamed Vitesse 4-2 at home on Tuesday, PSV crushed Willem II 3-0 on road on Thursday.
Donyell Malen opened the scoring after a solo effort and Michal Sadilek added the second from a free-kick, although it seemed Luuk de Jong also slightly touched the ball with his hair. On a assist by Malen Steven Bergwijn tipped in the third goal in the second half and sealed the 3-0 win.
Ajax needed a brilliant turn by Hakim Ziyech to take the lead against Vitesse a few minutes from half-time. Dusan Tadic scored two times from the penalty spot and Matthijs de Ligt also scored with a header. The four goals meant that Ajax have now scored 160 goals in all competitions this season, already breaking the Dutch record of AZ of 158 goals in the 1980/1981 season.
Next up for Ajax is Tottenham Hotspur in London on April 30 in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. The return is on May 8 in Amsterdam. In between, Ajax play the Dutch Cup final on May 5 against Willem II in Rotterdam.
Due to Ajax' Champions League obligations, the Dutch soccer association KNVB postponed next weekend's Eredivisie match round to Wednesday May 15.
With two match rounds remaining, Ajax lead with a better goal difference than PSV. Both teams have 80 points. Ajax await FC Utrecht at home and De Graafschap away in the final two match rounds and PSV first go to AZ and finish at home against Heracles.
