CHENGDU, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Thirty counties in southwest China's Sichuan Province have reached certain development levels and will no longer be labeled "poor," the provincial government decided Sunday.

The decision was made at an executive meeting of the provincial government.

The comprehensive poverty head-count ratio in the 30 counties has declined to below 3 percent, while over 90 percent of local residents approved the anti-poverty efforts.

The counties, scattered across the province with some being ethnic minority areas such as Tibetan and Qiang, have seen significant increase in disposable income for rural residents, and remarkable improvement in public service and infrastructure, the government said.

These counties have also put into place proper measures to consolidate their achievements in poverty reduction as well as mechanisms for sustainable development, it added.
