SHANGHAI, April 29, (Xinhua) -- A map application laying out the sites that mark the history of Jewish refugees in Shanghai was published Sunday in the metropolis.

Developed by Sino-Jewish Culture and Technology Exchange Center, the mini-app in Wechat shows a hand-drawn map with 10 Jewish cultural landmarks in the city.

Tourists can use the app for navigation or click on each site for an audio introduction. The app is currently in Chinese but an English version will be rolled out in the future, according to its developer.

During World War II, Shanghai hosted more than 30,000 Jewish refugees. There are 48 Jewish historic sites and buildings in Shanghai, many of which are still in use, according to local statistics.
