Iran's non-oil trade with EU down 22.55 pct in value annually

TEHRAN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Iran traded 8.68 million tons of non-oil commodities worth 10.44 billion U.S. dollars with the European Union (EU) during the last Iranian fiscal year ending on March 20, 2019, Eghtesadonline reported on Monday.

The figures registered a 14.83-percent decline in weight and a 22.55-percent decrease in value compared with the previous year.

Iran's exports to EU totaled 1.18 million tons worth 1.08 billion dollars during the period while the imports from EU stood at 7.5 million tons worth 9.36 billion dollars.

Iran mainly exported offal, saffron, urea, polyethylene grade film, floorings, non-alloy iron/steel ingots, methanol, and vehicles parts to EU member states.

In exchange, major commodities imported into Iran from EU states included field corn, graphic electrodes, antiserum, soybean, oilcake, auto parts, barley, machinery, screw air compressors, industrial furnace parts and baking machinery, and pharmaceuticals.

Germany topped the list among EU members with bilateral trade with Iran. Trade with Germany over the period stood at 801,658 tons worth 2.72 billion dollars.
