JALALABAD, Afghanistan, April 30 (Xinhua) -- A total of 22 militants affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) group have been killed as security forces stormed their hideouts in Khogiani district of eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, said a statement of the provincial government released here Tuesday.
According to the statement, the special operations were launched in the wee hours of Tuesday against IS hideouts in Khogiani district, killing 22 armed insurgents and capturing two others.
Four hideouts of the militant group have been destroyed and their arms and ammunition were smashed during the raids, the statement said.
No security personnel has been hurt, the statement said, adding that crackdown on militants would continue.
IS group which is operational in Nangarhar and the neighboring Kunar and Nuristan provinces has yet to make comment on the report.
