BEIRUT, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Jalal Firouznia vowed Tuesday that the U.S. sanctions will not prevent Iran from continuing its support to the Lebanese and Palestinian resistance, the National News Agency reported.

"Iran will keep on offering support to ensure stability and security in Lebanon, and it will continue support to both the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance facing Israeli aggression," the envoy said during his meeting with Osama Saad, head of the Popular Nasserist Organization.

Iran will support Lebanon on the economic and trade levels as well, the ambassador said.

He added that Iran will succeed in overcoming the negative repercussions of the U.S. sanctions and it will become even stronger in the future.

To heighten its pressure on Iran, the U.S. government has decided not to renew waivers to sanctions on the countries importing Iranian oil, after the current waivers expire in early May.
