Tianjin beat Altay VC to top Pool A at Asian Women's Club V'Ball Championship

TIANJIN, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Powerhouse Bohai Bank Tianjin continued their unbeaten streak to stay atop Pool A by beating Altay VC from Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-22) here on Tuesday at the 2019 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship.

Altay VC held an early lead 8-4 in the first set before Tianjin tied it at 11. The score remained neck to neck until Tianjin took the lead 23-19 and concluded the set 25-21.

Tianjin slightly trailed before they fought back at the end of the second set, scoring 5 points in a row to win it 25-18. The third set was harder for the host as Altay VC regained the spirit to lead 20-18, but Tianjin made an excellent combination on attacking to roar it back and close the set 25-22.

"We faced a strong team tonight and I am glad we hold the pressures when we were falling behind." said Tianjin's head coach Chen Youquan, "The next match to us is the quarter-final, we need to prepare ourselves well no matter who the opponent is."

Li Yingying was the leading scorer again for Tianjin with 21 points, including 17 spikes while Gong Xiangyu and Liu Xiaotong added 13 points and 11 points.

Japan's Hisamitsu Seiyaku Springs defeated VTV Binh Dien Long An from Vietnam 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-16), leading the Pool B with 12 points from a forth-straight victory.

In other two matches of Pool B, Supreme Chonburi of Thailand smashed Binagar of Turkmenistan 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-3) as 4.25 Sport Club of DPR Korea beat Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club with a comfortable straight-set 3-0 (25-8, 25-16, 25-18) victory.
