Indonesia to co-host 2020 U-19 AFC Cup qualifying round

JAKARTA, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has been appointed to co-host the qualifying round of 2020 U-19 Asian Cup qualifying round with four other Asian countries and regions, an official of Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) said.

The appointment was confirmed in an official letter signed by Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Secretary General Dato Windsor John on Thursday, PSSI Secretary General Ratu Tisha Destria said.

"As a country in the world which has great enthusiasm on football sports, we highly appreciate the trust of Asian public to host the event. We would prepare the best organizing for the qualifying matches," Ratu said in a statement released on Friday.

Besides Indonesia, the AFC also appointed Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, Myanmar and Vietnam to host the qualifying round for eastern zone.

In the group drawing process, AFC would put the hosting nations and regions in different groups for the qualifying round.

The AFC has previously appointed Indonesia to also co-host the qualifying round of 2020 U-16 Asian Cup along with Myanmar, Laos, Singapore and Vietnam.

In 2018 Indonesia hosted several football tournaments sanctioned by ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) and AFC.
