AMMAN, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Sunday warned of the consequences of the Israeli aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate end to the aggression.

Jordan called for honoring the humanitarian international law, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The ministry stressed that more violence will only lead to more tension and suffering, voicing its support to efforts by Egypt and the UN to reach a truce in this regard.

The ministry underlined the need for ceasing all military operations against the coastal enclave that are totally rejected and condemned, adding that the residents of Gaza suffer an unacceptable humanitarian crisis due to the siege by Israel.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the lack of horizons for peace and the continued occupation and siege represent a serious threat to the region's security and stability.

It also urged the international community to take an immediate action to end the cycle of violence and create the necessary environment to resolve the conflict based on the two-state solution that ensures the creation of an independent Palestinian state at the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
