NAIROBI, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Olympic 5,000m champion Vivian Cheruiyot will not compete at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar in October.

The 35-year-old said Monday she has pre-race contractual obligations to fulfill and will not be available to represent Kenya in Qatar.

However, she revealed it would be a dream if she will make the Kenya team to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

"I have not made up my mind over where to run next. Me and my management will decide on my next race," she said.

Cheruiyot won gold in 10,000m and 5,000m at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea and feels she has turned over that chapter.

"My focus and training is geared towards the 2020 Olympics in Japan. I have competed in four Olympics, I want Tokyo to be a special place in my career," said Cheruiyot.

For now, Cheruiyot will take time off her schedule to rest after she failed to defend her London Marathon title losing to compatriot Brigid Kosgei.

She has the choice of running in Berlin, Chicago or New York between September to November. Last year, she ran to silver medal in 2:26:02 in the streets of New York losing out to Mary Keitany.

With five marathon races under her belt, Cheruiyot has a brighter future ahead in the 42km ultimate distance and will never lack choice on where to run next.
