China call up 20 players for 2019 FIBA World Cup

BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Basketball Association announced a 20-player squad for the 2019 FIBA World Cup on Monday.

The squad includes four players from CBA champions Guangdong Southeast Tigers. Last season champions Liaoning Flying Leopard have three players in the camp.

Former NBA players Yi Jianlian and Zhou Qi were called up, and 20-year-old NCAA forward Zhang Zhenlin was also selected.

"Most players on the list have played for Chinese national teams in the last couple of years," said China head coach Li Nan.

"Zhang Zhenlin has been playing in the United States. His talent and potential impressed me a lot."

The training camp will start from May 15th.

The 2019 FIBA World Cup will take place in eight Chinese cities on Aug. 31- Sept. 15.

The complete list is as follows: Yi Jianlian, Zhou Peng, Ren Junfei, Zhao Rui, Guo Ailun, Zhao Jiwei, Liu Zhixuan, Wang Zhelin, Chen Linjian, Wu Qian, Abudushalamu, Kelanbaike, Zhai Xiaochuan, Fang Shuo, Hu Jinqiu, Sun Minghui, Shen Zijie, Zhou Qi, Ding Yanyuhang and Zhang Zhenlin.
