AMMAN, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The International Criminal Court (ICC) on Monday reversed a decision to refer Jordan to the UN Security Council (UNSC) as Jordan did not arrest Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir when he visited Amman to attend the Arab summit in 2017.

The ICC's decision followed an appeal made by Jordan against referring the kingdom to the UNSC.

Jordan's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sufian Qudah said in a statement on Monday that Jordan welcomes the ICC's decision.

He added that the decision is in recognition of Jordan's commitment to international laws.

The ICC issued arrest warrants for al-Bashir in 2009 and 2010 over his alleged role in war crimes including genocide in Sudan's Darfur.

In March 2017, al-Bashir was invited by Jordan to attend the 28th Arab Summit, an annual gathering of Arab leaders.
