Saudi Arabia, China keen on boosting bilateral ties: officials

RIYADH, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir met with Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chen Weiqing here on Thursday, discussing development of bilateral ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, Chen said that the relationship between China and Saudi Arabia has been developing rapidly with continued cooperation in various fields.

Noting that next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Saudi Arabia diplomatic relationship, Chen said that China is willing to work with Saudi to constantly enrich the connotation of bilateral relations and promote progress in their ties.

Al-Jubeir said that the China-Saudi Arabia relationship maintains a momentum of sound development with steady progress in cooperation in traditional fields such as politics, energy and infrastructure.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud's fruitful visit to China showed that the two countries attached great importance to the bilateral relationship, Al-Jubeir added.

Saudi Arabia will continue to work with China to expand new areas of cooperation and better serve the overall interests of their comprehensive strategic partnership under the implementation of the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, the Saudi official said.
