BRATISLAVA, May 12 (Xinhua) - Star-studded Russia broke Austria's resistance with two second-period goals in quick succession and fetched their second Group B win in 5-0 at the ice hockey world championship here on Sunday.

Yevgeni Dadonov's opener for Russia signaled the Austrians what was to come but they refused to surrender and stood strong until the 35th minute. Nikita Kucherov and Ivan Telegin beat Austria's goaltender from close range 36 seconds apart and provided the title contenders with a 3-0 lead.

Telegin's goal was one for the highlight reel, the CSKA Moscow attacker deflected the goal into the net with the stick between his legs.

Dadonov scored his second of the game 15 seconds into the third period and Ilya Kovalchuk's deflection concluded the 5-0 destruction of Austria. Russia's goaltender Alexander Georgiev made 32 saves on his shutout.
